The Transfer 2023

Welcome to Cardinal Newman Catholic High School. This section of our website will give you all the information you need about the transition from primary school to secondary school. We have lots of events going on throughout the year which aim to provide a smooth and successful move to High School with plenty of fun and support along the way so you can make a flying start to your time with us.

In a typical year, Year 5 students are invited to Cardinal Newman High School for a day of sample lessons and have the opportunity to become familiar with the school building and several members of the teaching staff. Following this, when children are in Year 6, parents and children receive a copy of the school prospectus and an invitation to our Open Evening to which everyone is very welcome. Once you have been allocated your place at our school those pupils who are transferring to Cardinal Newman are invited for a day to meet their new form tutor and classmates and the Year 11 prefects who will be supporting them during their first weeks with us. In addition there is a special parents' evening for parents of Year 6 pupils who are joining us where you can meet your child's tutors and ask any questions you may have.

Parents and prospective students are also welcome to make a mutually convenient appointment to visit the school during a normal working day.

Summer School

During the summer holidays we offer a summer school to provide students with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school and key staff. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and settle some of those first day nerves.

Summer school has proven to be very popular in helping students settle in. Summer school comes highly recommended from both students and parents.

This year summer school will take place on the 21st-23rd August
